ekoostik hookah will be headlining the second annual Hookahnanny, held Friday and Saturday, June 25 & 26 at Myers’ Hog Hill in Hamilton, IN. Additional performers include The Werks, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus, Shaggy Wonda, Romeo Champagne, Derick Howard, Samesoul and more still to be announced.
One of the most original and energetic acts around today, ekoostik hookah is the nucleus of a family drawn to its lucid, improvisational treatment of psychedelic rock ’n’ roll, blues, funk, jazz and bluegrass layered with rich harmonies. Born early in 1991 in a smoky basement bar, the band has been continually evolving, cultivating a sound that has perked the ears of contemporaries and attracted fans who travel miles to hear them play.
Through two full-length albums, numerous live recordings, and a ragged commitment to touring, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus has become a phenomenon in the Midwest music scene. Their thirst for exploration and desire to connect with the listener leaves audiences shakin’ their booties and wanting more.
Formed in 2007, The Werks have an intrinsic style that explores diverse elements of rock, funk, electronica, soul, bluegrass, jazz and world music. This original style coupled a dedication to touring, has earned them the devotion of a number of music-lovers across the country.
